Talk about an incredible bar and experience. Bring sophistication with you because it isn't your local pub or tavern. Don't worry about suit and tie though, everyone here is relaxed. Best whiskey bar in town!
The staff is terrific. Very welcoming and friendly. Repeal 18th is a "must-visit" destination for craft-cocktail enthusiasts, but can also make you the best gin and tonic you've ever had. The food is a top-notch compliment to the cocktails, putting premium spins on familiar American pub food. Top-to-bottom, this is a delightful establishment, nestled in the hottest corner of North Kansas City. Stop reading reviews and get yourself to Repeal 18th as quickly as you can. Cheers!
Awful and annoying hipster joint. Small portions on over priced simple meals that should've been a third of the price for what you're getting. Extremely long wait to get our food. The wait would've been understandable, if it was busy, but the restaurant only had two other tables occupied in the whole place. The waitress who helped us is the only reason I'm giving them two stars, instead of one. She was fantastic, sweet and very helpful and very quick with refills and anything else we needed. Too bad everything else wasn't that good.
Had Brunch again. Consistently gourmet quality, local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. Enjoyed a couple specialty crafted cocktail that did not disappoint. Darrell was helpful, friendly, and helped us feel special, welcomed, and provided attentive service. Very excited to try the lunch or dinner fair. The outdoor venue looks fun and relaxing as soon as the weather warms. NKC has a new entertainment venue that offers quality selection of whiskeys, crafted cocktails, and high quality, food fare. Love the concept and experience.
I realllllly wanted to like this place, but I gave it two chances...lunch was just okay and dinner was atrocious. I went to lunch with a friend and the lunch menu was very small - we had hoped to be able to order from the regular menu as well =/ We started by sharing the Caramelized Butternut Squash soup and it was delicious! We also decided to share 2 sandwiches - the Grown Up Grilled Cheese & the Smashburger. The grilled cheese was supposed to come with pickled vegetables but about halfway through eating we realized they were missing; the burger was good but nothing special. Still, the food was good enough to warrant going back for the dinner menu with my husband a couple nights later. We arrived around 7pm to mostly empty tables with just a couple tables seated (see pics). The hostess said there was no available table seating and we would have to sit at the bar to eat. It was so incredulous to have her tell us that while clearly seeing the mostly empty dining area! She said the tables were already reserved. I sensed some sketchiness, so I took a "before" picture and then took an "after" picture when we left. There were still several empty tables when we left that never got seated in the hour we were there (again, see pics)! As we left my husband said something to her about that and she stated one party chose to sit outside instead and they were also 'short-staffed'. Still not an excuse and so unprofessional. As far as the dinner food, we shared the short-rib entree. It was so delicious that I didn't even realize until about halfway through (again!) that it was missing the asparagus. We didn't even bother saying anything though; we knew we wouldn't be back.
